Bus and taxi services in La Savina have got shade

ombra1Users of bus and taxi services in La Savina have now got shade on their side. The Balearic Islands Port Authority oversaw financing and construction of two large-scale pergolas offering respite from the sun for individuals awaiting public transport.

The pergolas had long been requested by the Formentera Council, and their construction came right on time; they were completed just before some of the hottest days of the year.

Councillor of tourism and transport Alejandra Ferrer expressed her satisfaction with the shade-providing installations and thanked Port Authority for the upgrade. Speaking of Port Authority, she explained: “In recent months they have been extremely responsive and are collaborating on a number of issues, as with the pergolas.”

Councillor Ferrer indicated other points of collaboration between the Palma bureau and our local council. For instance, Port Authority also signed off on an information stand located at the point of disembarkation of many Eivissa-based organised boat trips.

The two entities also concurred on a recent request by Autocares Paya – the company that assures public transport services on Formentera – to place an informational sign within the port.

Finally, Councillor Ferrer also thanked Port Authority for “the preferential treatment [shown] to rental agencies that have electric vehicles in their fleet” when deciding on how to allocate space for La Savina car hire businesses.
