Caps de setmana gastronòmics back for another round

cap 7mana gastroWith the summer season on the horizon, the Formentera Council's offices of tourism and commerce have come together with some of the island's tourist-oriented businesses to coordinate a wave of events to get the season under way.

For both locals and tourists, one of the most hotly-anticipated events on the May calendar is els Caps de setmana gastronòmics ('Gastronomic weekends'). But there's no shortage of contenders on the programme. Events like Formentera Fotogràfica, Formentera Film Festival, Formentera 2.0 and the half marathon are all part of an effort to open up the island to aficionados of culture, gastronomy and sport.

Els Caps de setmana gastronòmics take place over the first two weekends of month, from 1-3 to 8-10 May. Ten island restaurants propose prix fix specials – drinks not included – set at €20.

The establishments taking part are: in the port, Bahía del Puerto and Restaurant La Savina; in Es Pujols, Capri, Pinatar and Caminito; can Forn in Sant Ferran; s'Abeurada de can Simonet in Sant Francesc; in Es Caló, can Pascual; Blue Bar of Migjorn; and in the Mariland complex, Casablanca.
