Firefighters contain second blaze to hit la Mola in two days

At four p.m. this afternoon, Formentera firefighters gave the all-clear on a wildfire that had burned some 200 square metres of Savina juniper and pine forests in the Es Ram area of la Mola. The call announcing the fire came in at 2:19 p.m., directly after which the firefighting team was dispatched to the scene, where they were met by an aereal crew of Ibanat. Firefighters reported the original cause of the flames—first detected near a hotel resort in the Es Ram area—has yet to be determined. Another fire was reported and extinguished yesterday near a neighbouring road. Firefighting crews were also joined by Formentera local police, civil protection forces, members of the Guárdia Civil and the Ibanat team of Formentera.
