Mouffe's “A las cinco de la tarde” prepares for landing at can Senieta

michelmouffe-1-The Formentera Council department of culture reports that at 5.00pm on May 4, Belgian painter Michel Mouffe will pull back the curtain on his latest exhibit, A las cinco de la tarde. On view at Sant Francesc's can Senieta until August 17, the show will open Monday to Saturday from 5.00pm to 8.00pm in May and 6.00pm to 9.00pm from June to August.

The exhibit includes twenty abstract paintings whose range of subjects includes the islanders who were shot down by Franco supporters. Mouffe, born in Brussels in 1957 and residing between la Mola, Belgium and France, is represented by Axel Vervoordt Gallery of Belgium and Hong Kong.

The exhibit will settle in at can Senieta, a Council-owned space currently on loan to the Govern balear. Mouffe asked the Govern to host his show before the traditional ranch home was remodelled into the future headquarters of the Museu de Formentera. The show is being presented by the Formentera Council and the culture, participation and sports ministry of the Govern balear.
