Formation of the Consell de Formentera Ethics and Good Governance Commission

foto 2021 comissio etica BThe Ethics and Good Governance Commission of the Consell de Formentera celebrated its inaugural gathering yesterday in the assembly hall of local government. The commission was created to support dissemination and monitoring of the Consell de Formentera code of ethics and good governance that was adopted during this legislature.

The commission is chaired by Paula Ferrer, Councillor of Human Resources. The commission's other members —Lina Mayans, Andreu Ferrer and Javier González Granado— have experience, competence and proven professional prestige in ethics, law and organisational governance and were appointed in plenary. Also on the commission is municipal clerk Ángel Custodio Navarro. At the first gathering, members set the commission's work plan for 2022, including actions to disseminate the Plan and the Code of Ethics among civil society and the Consell de Formentera.

Councillor Ferrer cast the new committee as "another step on the path towards a policy of integrity under principles and rules of good governance".

The commission's functions include collecting comments, queries and suggestions to implement proposed adaptations of the provisions established in the Code, resolving queries about how the Code is applied and receiving complaints and reports about possible breaches of the values, principles and conduct set out in the Code and proceeding accordingly. The commission will issue an annual report on compliance with the Code, and meet at least once a year.
