Local photographers celebrated and showcased at Beni Trutmann exhibit opening

1er-premi-blanc-i-negre-hector1Islanders gathered at 8.00pm on Monday to get a look at the premier photographs of the seventeenth Beni Trutmann contest and celebrate the photographers responsible for taking them. An awards ceremony applauding top contestants was scheduled alongside the launch of an accompanying museum display. A panel of jurors stared down 171 submissions from 69 participants in crowning this year's greats.

Visitors can see the show at the Sala d'Exposicions (Ajuntament Vell) from 11.00am to 2.00pm and 6.00pm to 8.00pm until May 11.

The Beni Trutmann contest was conceived as a tribute to the Swizz photographer whose Formentera legacy spans 44 years and more than thirty thousand photographs that showcase Trutmann's love for the island and its natural spaces. Contestants submit photos in a variety of categories involving the local outdoors—landscapes, animals, plants and human interaction—part of an effort to turn the focus on protecting the environment.
