When Consell de Formentera president Alejandra Ferrer sat down today with Jorge Jiménez, president of Club Tennis Illa de Formentera, the two put their signatures on a deal regarding the right to use, and the authority to manage, the Formentera government’s tennis and padel courts in 2020. Paula Ferrer, the island’s consellera of sports, was on hand at the signing as well.
Under the terms of the deal, the Consell de Formentera authorises the local tennis club to use, run and oversee upkeep of municipal tennis and padel courts on Camí de Porto-salè. The Consell will pay the club €11,000 for management and maintenance costs. Meanwhile, Club Tennis Illa de Formentera pledges to facilitate access, use and enjoyment of the areas in question to local sports associations and other groups. The club promises to oversee other tasks as well, including normal upkeep of the courts and any necessary staffing.
