The Formentera Island Council's Office of Culture is pleased to invite its citizens to the opening ceremony of what will be a permanent exhibition by the Icelandic painter based in Formentera and known by his pseudonym: Erró.

Last year the artist headlined another opening ceremony held at the Exhibition Hall and organised as part of the Festes de Sant Jaume. On display at the event were a sampling of seven lacquered, 15 kg boxes, previously used as tea containers, featuring images from sources as diverse as comic books, Léger, Picasso, Matisse and Miró.

The boxes were donated to the Formentera Council by the artist and will remain on permanent display in the shared hallway linking the library, the School of Music and the Conservatory, where all visitors to the facilities will be able to take in the sight of this premium selection of the artist's work.

Faithful to Formentera ever since his first visit in 1958, this indisputable artist's previous 2008 donation to the Council can currently be seen at the Citizen Information Office (OAC). It is with great pleasure that the Formentera Council, on the occasion of the donation of these lacquered boxes, today, makes them available to the local population, and brings art and culture to the island.

Opening ceremony, Thursday 18 July at 7:30. Library, School of Music and Conservatory hallway.
