In boost for local commerce, upgraded parts of avinguda Miramar and carrer Punta Prima go car-free 8.00pm to 7.00am

In places where upgrades and other visual enhancements were completed this winter, vehicle traffic will be permitted from 7.00am to 8.00pm, though only for loading and unloading. Parking in those areas will remain prohibited.

As mobility chief Rafael González explained, “we hope to deliver a boost to businesses in this part of es Pujols, especially in the late afternoon and evening when footfall is highest”. “It’s just one of multiple operations in the area aimed at fomenting activity in the island’s tourist hub”, he added.

The strategy was agreed by area business owners in a meeting hosted by local government on 7 June.

Related efforts
Attendees of the same meeting also voted to allow traffic on carrer Xaloc from the roundabout towards the sea.

In the days ahead, two new park-and-ride lots will create parking to the southeast of town for 150 cars and 150 mopeds and, along the ring road, to 60 cars.

Vendors at the market in es Pujols can load and unload at no charge during two daily 30-minute slots in the car park under plaça Europa. Passes can be obtained at the plaça Europa car park office.

People with reduced mobility can park at no charge in the plaça Europa lot too. Those passes can also be obtained at the plaça Europa car park office.
