'Ajuntament Vell' welcomes 'Raíces', an exhibition of paintings in communion with natural space around us

The Formentera Office of Culture is pleased to report that from 27 September to 8 October, Sala d'Exposicions "Ajuntament Vell" will host Yolanda Costa's "Raíces".

The exhibition is composed of a series of paintings of varying formats and sizes, which seek connection with the natural space that surrounds us. "The title refers to the quest for connection with the roots we grow up with", Costa explains. Front and centre in the artist's creations are texture and colour, and Costa fashioned the series by mixing, painting, folding and tearing recycled paper and cardboard. With watercolours, acrylics, gouache and other techniques, she invites viewers to contemplate and interpret the pieces.

The Galicia-born artist is also an art conservator and restorer. She has lived on Mallorca for several years and says that when she arrived on the island, she connected with nature and her roots.

"Raíces" will open at Sala d'Exposicions "Ajuntament Vell" Monday 26 September at 7.00pm. It will remain on view Monday to Saturday, 11.00am to 2.00pm and 6.00pm to 8.00pm until 8 October. The exhibition space will be closed Sundays, Monday mornings and holidays.
