The Office of Sport of the Consell de Formentera reports that today, notary Javier González Granado oversaw a drawing for places in the 14th Formentera Half-Marathon and 8K race on 13 May 2023.

Of 4,975 athletes who pre-registered, 1,364 received a spot in the Half-Marathon and 923 in the 8K race. For the Half-Marathon, selected runners were those with numbers between 1,022 (generated at random) and 2,385, both included,  place. The number drawn for the 8K run was 5,725, so places went to runners holding numbers between 5,725 and 6,647.

The human resources department of the Consell de Formentera reports that today's issue of the Official State Gazette (Boletín Oficial del Estado, BOE) contains details of the process to stabilise 242 public servant and staff positions in 59 groups and categories at the Consell de Formentera. From tomorrow, interested parties will have 20 working days to apply.

This process is open to everyone, employees of the Consell de Formentera or not. Any person who meets the requirements of a particular position may apply and the offer is not exclusive. Applicants with questions or seeking more information may contact the human resources department by e-mail at selecciopersonal@conselldeformentera.cat or by phone.

A form designed to facilitate the process is available on the Virtual Citizen Information Office (OVAC). Interested parties can also get help with their application by making an appointment at the Citizen Information Office (OAC). Applicants need only fill out a form; no documents are required. A useful guide has been given to all Consell de Formentera staff and can be found on the Consell de Formentera website.

The 43rd Memorial John Tunks Mini-Marathon, organised by the Espalmador Sports Group (GEE) with the collaboration of the Office of Sports of the Consell de Formentera, will take place this Thursday 8 December from 10.30am. The event consists of two modalities: athletics and skating (12K course) and 2.8K children's race starting in Sant Ferran.

Registration for the 12K race can be completed online at www.elitechip.es. Registration is free for participants under 18, €15 for all other participants and half off for GEE members. Bibs can be picked up at the starting point from 8.30am.

Start times are as follows:
10.30am | John Tunks Memorial Mini-Marathon (12K)
10.40am | Skating race (single category)
11.10am (approx.) | 2,800m run from Sant Ferran
12 noon | Lower categories

Roads will be closed to vehicle traffic on all race courses during the event. The following road closures will take place from 10.00am 1.00pm: on PM 820, La Savina (junction with PM 820-2) - Sant Francesc - Sant Ferran (first traffic circle) and on PM 820-2 , La Savina - Es Pujols - Sant Ferran.

The Consell de Formentera has begun steps to hire health care assistants to staff the island's nursing home. Details about the positions can be found on the Consell de Formentera website and offers are open until 8 December.

Candidates must be accredited nursing assistants, have completed intermediate social-health care training or an equivalent vocational programme, or hold specialised or professional certification in any of the these areas.

Work at the old people's home, or residència, will include tending to basic personal hygiene, common care needs and the material needs of each user, and feeding, as needed.
