Close-up on illustrated book about Eivissa and Formentera anchors December programming in local libraries

p--desembre-20191Formentera’s culture department unveiled details today about local libraries' December activities programme, with, at the fore, a presentation of an illustrated book about the Pine Islands at Marià Villangómez Library on Wednesday, 11 December, at 8.00pm.

In attendance at the presentation will be Lluís Ferrer and Joan Escandell, author and illustrator of Eivissa i Formentera il·lustrada, a comic book in which both men share their visions of the island where they were born and raised. The roughly 200-page, landscape-format volume is brought to life by 150 images of architecture, roads, astronomy, beaches, folklore, flora and fauna, flanked by texts from Ferrer. Maite Ferrer will be on hand to moderate.

Story time

At 5.00pm on Tuesday, 3 December, Contes per parlar amb la lluna will once again take place at Marià Villangómez Library. Xènia Fuertes stages the family-friendly storytelling sessions the first Tuesday of the month in October, November and December. The events are scheduled to resume in February after a brief pause, and are designed as a rendezvous point for families and a way to connect children aged zero to four with reading and spoken lore. The idea is that it's never too early for children to discover the magic of storytelling.

At 4.30pm on Wednesday, 4 December, the Sant Ferran library connection will be the scene of a Christmas decoration workshop for kids aged five to twelve. Participants of this year's workshop will use recycled plastic bottles to make fun Christmas trees.

Christmas closures

Programming at Marià Villangómez Library and the Sant Ferran library connection will resume after the Christmas holidays. Both buildings will be closed from Monday 23 December to Monday 6 January, inclusive, and will open their doors Tuesday, 7 January 2020.
